Financial challenges were constant, but Chandrasekharaiah resolved never to depend on external donations. With unwavering support from well-wishers, especially Subbamma, he expanded the institution while simultaneously managing his family responsibilities. Over the years, Vijaya Educational Institutions flourished, earning a reputation for academic excellence, discipline, and innovation. By 1998, it had achieved a historic milestone, securing 22 SSLC state ranks in a single year.
His contributions were widely recognized, earning him numerous awards, including the Karnataka State Award (1972) and the National Award (1977). He was also honored by the International Biographical Research Foundation and received a fellowship from the University of Madras. Chandrasekharaiah maintained close relationships with eminent Kannada literary figures and was a dedicated follower of Mahatma Gandhi. His institution continues to uphold Gandhian values by singing his favorite prayer every Friday. His lifelong dedication to education and selfless service made him a highly respected figure in academic circles.
Chandrasekharaiah’s success was deeply intertwined with the support of his wife, Shanta Chandrasekharaiah, who stood by him for 70 years. Their children played a vital role in preserving his legacy. His story is a testament to resilience, vision, and the transformative power of education.
